🌸 Getting Started with Aromatherapy

What is aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy uses natural plant extracts and essential oils to promote physical and emotional well-being. It's not magic—it's science. Scents trigger your limbic system (the emotional center of your brain), which can affect mood, stress levels, and even sleep quality.

💡 Pro Tip: Start with 2-3 scents that appeal to you. Use them consistently at the same time each day. Notice how you feel after 7 days.

🕯️ Candles vs. Wax Melts: Which is Right for You?

Choose CANDLES if: Choose WAX MELTS if:
✓ You love the ambiance of a flame
✓ You want longer continuous burn (40-50 hours)
✓ You prefer set-it-and-forget-it simplicity
✓ You have kids or pets (no open flame)
✓ You want to switch scents easily
✓ You like mixing scents
✓ You want stronger scent throw

The 3-Zone Method

Transform different areas of your home into aromatic havens with strategic scent placement.

Morning/Daytime scents: Citrus, Peppermint, Coffee, Lemon
Why it works: Boosts alertness and productivity

⚖️ ZONE 2: Balance (Living Room, Common Areas)

💡 Scent Pairing Rules:
✅ DO: Pair scents from the same family (citrus + citrus, woodsy + woodsy)
✅ DO: Layer light scents with heavier ones (lavender + vanilla)
✅ DO: Use 2-3 scents max in one space

💡 Pro Tips from Candle Makers

🕯️ How to Make Candles Last Longer

  1. Trim your wick to 1/4 inch before EVERY burn (seriously, every time)
  2. Burn for 4-6 hours at a time (not 20 minutes, not 8 hours)
  3. Let the wax pool reach the edges on first burn (prevents tunneling)
  4. Keep away from drafts (windows, fans, vents)
  5. Don't burn below 1/2 inch of wax (fire hazard)

🔥 How to Get Maximum Scent from Wax Melts

  1. Use 1-2 cubes for small rooms, 2-3 for large spaces
  2. Replace when scent fades (usually 8-10 hours per cube)
  3. Clean your warmer between scents (cotton ball method)
  4. Mix scents for custom blends (try it!)
  5. Warm climate? Store in fridge to prevent melting

🌿 Soy vs. Paraffin: The Truth

Soy Wax (what we use):
✓ Burns 30-50% longer
✓ Cleaner burn (less soot)
✓ Renewable resource
✓ Easier to clean up
✓ Better for daily use
Paraffin Wax:
• Cheaper to produce
• Slightly stronger scent throw
• Burns hotter and faster
• Petroleum-based
• Can leave soot on walls

Our take: Soy is better for most people, especially if you burn candles daily. Paraffin isn't evil, but soy is cleaner and lasts longer.

❓ Common Questions

Q: How long should I burn a candle?

A: 2-4 hours per session. First burn should reach the edges (usually 4-6 hours).

Q: Why doesn't my candle smell strong?

A: Could be: room too large, poor quality wax, not enough fragrance oil, or you've gone "nose blind" (take a break!).

Q: Can I mix wax melt scents?

A: Yes! Start with scents from the same family. Try: Lavender + Vanilla, Pumpkin + Cinnamon, Eucalyptus + Peppermint.

Q: Are candles safe for pets?

A: Soy candles with natural oils are generally safe. Avoid: tea tree, eucalyptus (for cats), and any artificial fragrances. Always keep out of reach.

Q: How do I clean wax out of my warmer?

A: Turn on warmer for 30 seconds, turn off, place cotton ball in melted wax, let cool, pop out. Easy!

Q: What's "overscenting"?

A: Adding MORE fragrance oil than standard (we do this). Result: stronger scent throw, fills whole house, lasts longer.
